Felice Herrig, who is just coming off a unanimous win against Kate Meehan for the IKF Pro Muay Thai title is now preparing for her first MMA bout in February. Felice was nice enough to take some time to talk with Fightergirls about her MMA debut. HAPPY NEW YEAR, FELICE! START OFF BY GIVING ME A RECAP OF 2008 FOR YOU AND WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2009? I started fighting for Chuck Norris's World Combat League at the end of 2007, which brought me into 2008. The WCL was tough for me because it was completely out of my weight class. But I made some adjustments and made it work. My WCL season ended in March, and ironically my last WCL fight I got called to start hosting an mma t.v. show called Combatwire on CLTV. I loved hosting this show. I had the opportunity to work with so many great fighters and am very thankful for the experience and opportunities it brought me. In April of 2008, I also started training for mma.
As part of Indiana's first ever women's mixed martial arts summit, MCMA alumna Julie Kedzie and coach Greg Jackson will be teaching an MMA seminar. Open to men and women of all experience levels, this seminar is a rare chance to learn from one of the top UFC trainers, as well as one of the pioneers of women's MMA.
Cost is $50.00 for women, $60.00 for men. Gloves, mitts, and kneepads recommended. Contact hooknshoot@aol.com to reserve your spot.

The ADCC Committee adjusted the Ladies weight classes for the remaining trials and main event in 2009. Previously the weight categories were under 55KG and over 55KG. The new weight classes are under 60KG and over 60KG. ADCC Head organizer Guy Neivens stated: "The committee felt it was a better fit for our tournament based on past events weight classes and our current format."
The new weight classes will apply, as stated above, to the remaining trials and to teh ADCC World Championship in 2009.

My name is Debi Purcell. I am a professional female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Fighter, trained by the legendary Marco Ruas. I am the founding mother of FighterGirls.com, the original and first web site in the world solely dedicated to female fighting, including women's MMA (mixed martial arts), Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Grappling, and Wrestling.
Female fighting has been slow to start and finding our place amongst the male warriors has sometimes been a struggle. In 2001, when there was little interest in women's MMA, FighterGirls.com was born as a way to help grow and evolve this sport and other fighting sports for the women. Since then, our beloved sport has exploded and female MMA, right along with it. Thanks to many people, female fighters have come a long way and you will now find most MMA shows in America and Japan feature women's MMA matches. FighterGirls.com has evolved with the sport and we now have a complete database of professional and amateur female fighters, a female fight school finder, a complete clothing line with rash guards, board shorts, and vale tudo shorts and one of the biggest and best female martial arts forums/message boards on the planet. In short, if you want to know anything about female MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, Grappling, and Wrestling, you have come to the right place.
My hope with FighterGirls.com has and always will be to help the women fighters network with each other and have a place for the promoters to find female fighters. It has always been a hope and dream to have the match ups evolve with the sport. This site is dedicated to the female warriors, whether their sport is MMA, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing, Grappling, or Wrestling, all deserve respect and acknowledgment.
FighterGirls.com also strives to help movie and TV producers looking for females to appear in their shows. I have spoken with a few agents and producers and to my amazement, I learned it is hard for them to find women fighters that can actually fight. In the near future, I will be including a female fighter line of training gear to go with our growing selection of shirts and shorts. There is still much work to be done, and I know I am only scratching the surface, but with everyone's help I think this could work. I am in no way trying to segregate MMA and other fighting sports between females and males. I have the utmost respect for the male fighters in this sport. Without them, I doubt any of us would have learned most of what we know. I am just trying to make it a bit easier for us girls! Thanks ladies - YOU KICK A**!
